“Water heater wouldn’t light two days before the holiday. Called A.P.E.S. Plumbing; they got a tech out promptly. Anthony the tech showed up at scheduled time, friendly, courteous & was able all questions I had and explain what was going. He troubleshot the issue, then further diagnosed with the manufacturer who said it was the thermal coupler. Still under warranty the the manufacture sent the part but because of the long holiday weekend no hot water. The part arrived 2 days after the weekend. Called to have the part put installed but it would have to be the following day (part arrived latter in day all time slots were booked for that day), but when Anthony found out I had the part he went above & beyond to make sure the part got installed the same day it arrived once he new I had it. Anthony & I thought it was fixed, unit turned off. Thinking it was the end of the heat cycle he turned it up but the heater would not fire up. He checked & the piolit was also out. Tried to light it numerous times with no luck. He gave me the manufactures number to call so as the home owner they could send me the gas control valve. Manufacture was contacted numerous times to get the additional part. Once again wait a few more days for them to ship. Once I had the part I called to get on the schedule for the part to be installed. Once again Anthony promptly returned, installed the new part & made sure everything was working properly before leaving.
My recomdations: A.P.E.S for plumbing (have not used there HVAC side of company yet) Anthony and past techs that have been out to repair this unit (counting original this is the 3rd set of parts)
RUUD has an awesome parts warranty I believe, but it takes a little time to get the parts (had to be contacted them various times to get parts needed to fix unit, instead of just sending both parts. Any parts not needed could of been sent back.)
Not having hot water for over a week is no fun. I will glady use A.P.E.S plumbing for plumbing issues again, but when the time comes I’ll think twice about another RUUD water heater cause I’ve not seen the reliabilty the reviews talk about (unless it the reliability of their parts warranty.
